Alexander Ovechkin is a unique player. He remains, by far, the best scorer of his generation, even in the history of the NHL, according to Mike Bossy. Before Wednesday night's game, he had 730 goals and could join Marcel Dionne as the fifth leading scorer in history.
The "Czar" not only joined him... he even surpassed him with his two goals (plus two assists), allowing him to move into sole possession of 5th place in history. An exceptional feat in today's hockey, where goals don't rain down as much as they used to.
Next in his sights is the great Bett Hull, who scored 741 goals in his prolific career!
In what was supposed to be an explosive duel, the Caps roasted the Rangers 5-1, Hendrix Lapierre scored his first goal, there were a ton of penalties, but Ryan Reaves didn't stir anyone up. Remember that the Rangers still have a bitter taste in their mouths, the duel where Tom Wilson shuffled Artemi Panarin and Pavel Buchnevich like rag dolls.
However, Reaves was on the first face-off of the game, then "Ovi" made sure to make him laugh, without too much fear of seeing Reaves' fists! Great "Ovi"!
I'll leave you with the 731st goal from BIG number 8.
