On Thursday night, Zach Fucale FINALLY got his first start in the National Hockey League, and at 26 years old, despite all the trials and tribulations, he has NEVER given up.

Recalled by the Caps mid-week to fill in for Vitek Vanecek's absence, Fucale was smoking against the Red Wings and with a flawless performance, earned a shutout.

The 2-0 shutout made him the 26th goaltender to record a shutout in his first NHL game. Add to that the fact that he is the first since Garrett Sparks in 2015... and the first from Quebec since Yann Danis in 2005.

Then, on top of all that, he became the first goalie in the Capitals franchise history to record a shutout in his NHL debut. Pretty incredible performance in a first game in the show!

Of course, his parents were in attendance, where they saw their son made 21 saves in a very emotional game for the whole family.

The night didn't end as soon as the bell rang as Caps captain Alex Ovechkin threw a little party for his young teammate. He couldn't leave it like that, without doing anything!

What a great moment for Fucale!
