While Slafkovsky is currently playing his first ever NHL training camp with the CH, it's the same for Wright with the Seattle Kraken, and it's interesting to see how it goes for him.
After a good run, things have gotten tougher for Wright, who has reportedly been "throwing fits with AHL coaches":
Despite this, he got some great opportunities at the Kraken camp, including being put in the best possible position to be successful.
Earlier this week, Wright made his debut in a Kraken uniform on his team's top three alongside Jaden Schwartz and Jordan Eberle, Seattle's top two wingers in 2021-22.
Not only was he very well surrounded, but he was given the keys to the first power play by his head coach.
In the end, his performance fell short:
In the last few hours, we have seen what appears to be a demotion of Shane Wright from the Kraken lineup (a "demotion").
Former trio:
Schwartz-Wright-Eberle
New trio :
Donato-Wright-Kuhlman
Now paired with wingers Ryan Donato and Karson Kuhlman, with about 10 days to go before the season starts, Shane Wright finds himself in a vulnerable position, and on a line with two fourth, or even, "fifth line" players.
He still has time to rebuild, but the season is fast approaching, and it seems to indicate that the young Wright will start the 2022-23 season outside the top-9. Stay tuned!
