It's not the first time we're about to make this statement of failure in the Tricolore organization in recent years. The first picks follow one another with the Habs and the results are always the same. How can such a big organization be so unsuccessful with its first round picks? Or is it a problem in the organization with player development?

If Marc Bergevin doesn't match the Hurricanes' hostile offer for Jesperi Kotkaniemi, it will be a sixth first-round pick that will leave the Tricolore organization for other skies under Bergevin's reign that began in 2012. If we only look at the years 2012 to 2018, only Ryan Poehling remains with the Canadiens. That's an extremely disappointing statement when you think about it...

Bergevin still has some time to make a decision on KK's future. However, even if Kotkaniemi stays with the Habs, he still has a lot to prove. He has had a good playoff run the last two years, but his regular season performance is not reassuring, with 28 points in 82 games over two seasons. Many will say that he is still young and that he should be given time, but for the moment, he is more of a failure than a success for a player selected third overall in his class... And it will probably be the same for Ryan Poehling. Will Cole Caufield be the one to break the curse? Let's hope so!
