Anze Kopitar With the Montreal Canadiens Instead of Carey Price? Analyst Suggests the Team Would Have Been Better Off
The expert Tony Marinaro took advantage of the Los Angeles Kings' visit to town to make a bold statement that is causing a lot of reactions.
In his opinion, Anze Kopitar would have been a better choice than Carey Price.
He would change the selection of Kopitar (11th overall in 2005) with that of Price (5th overall in 2005).
Personally, we do not agree with him, especially since it is so easy to say in hindsight, but let's not forget everything Price has done for the Canadiens and for Montreal, especially in 2021.
Kopitar, 36 years old, has accumulated 1165 points in 1315 career games in the NHL, including 24 points in 23 games this year.
It's extremely impressive, but Carey also had a breathtaking career.
Price, 36 years old, has amassed 361 career wins, 49 shutouts, while maintaining an average of 2.51 and an efficiency rate of 0.917. He has been one of the best goalies of his generation.
"Marinaro: Kopitar would have been a better choice than Carey Price."
And he mentions being perfectly aware that this will not be a popular statement among fans of the Montreal Canadiens.
Imagine having picked Kopitar instead of Price. It would have changed everything for nearly 20 years for the Habs.
