Mathias Brunet spoke with Martin Lemay on 91.9 Sports to make comments about Ben Chiarot, Jonathan Drouin, Artturi Lehkonen and the future of the Montreal Canadiens.
According to Lemay, Chiarot must stay with the Montreal Canadiens because of his leadership. The host is right, this is the type of individual you want in your group to rebuild something solid.
But Mathias Brunet told him that he was wilfully blind about Chiarot since he had already left. If any other GM offers a first-round pick and a prospect, Chiarot will be gone, according to Brunet. Most likely, yes!
That said, Lemay goes so far as to say that if he leaves the organization by the deadline, Kent Hughes could bring him back with the team through free agency. So, eventually, he would have won a first-round pick, a prospect... and Chiarot's return.
It's nice to dream, isn't it?
