Many experts believed that with the arrival of Claude Giroux, Alex DeBrincat and goaltender Cam Talbot, the team from the Federal Capital had accelerated their rebuilding process and that the team was in a good position to make the playoffs this season.
But let's just say that with a 5-9-1 record, Senators fans are pretty discouraged and some of them want a change behind the bench.
However, Senators general manager Pierre Dorion mentioned at the management meeting in Toronto that he was not considering a coaching change, but as you know, it's often after a vote of confidence from the GM that some changes occur. Remember Bob Gainey and Guy Carbonneau in 2009.
But now Jean-Charles Lajoie has floated an idea of his own on BPM Sports with former Montreal mayor Denis Coderre. The star host sees none other than Patrick Roy as the next head coach of the Senators with a whole team of assistants at his side.
As we know, there is a good chance that this will be Roy's last season at the helm of the Quebec Remprts and Lajoie says he would not hesitate to jump at such an opportunity. It would be quite a turnaround in his case, but it would be a great opportunity for him and we would love to see it.
Do you agree with him? Do you believe it?
Imagine the reaction of the fans of the CH if this happens!
For his part, Coderre sees a former Habs coach taking over the Senators instead.
