In the last few seconds, what is probably the most well-connected and reliable journalist in the business, veteran Bob McKenzie, has just waded in a bit about who will be drafted with the first overall pick by the Montreal Canadiens:
"Anecdotally, not to be confused with the actual confirmations that are being provided, know that many NHL teams are convinced that MTL will take Shane Wright with the first overall pick. Also anecdotally, there seems to be a lot of talk that NJ might trade the second overall pick. That's a real possibility."
- Bob McKenzie So the various NHL general managers are convinced that MTL will take Shane Wright. That's major info! And he adds this:
"There seems to be a sense (in the NHL) of increased potential for major trades to happen tonight involving big NHL names, which, if they happened tonight, would spice up the draft considerably. The prospect of that happening may be very exciting for hockey fans, but... (it happens a lot that we get that feeling and are disappointed in the end)"
- Bob McKenzie
See his comments in full, he still takes care to caution us that it's often happened that he's had that feeling and nothing happened on draft night:
You be the judge of that, but it's very interesting and when it comes from a journalist like Bob McKenzie (who ALWAYS predicts good selections), it should definitely be considered and analyzed.
More details to follow!
