Brendan Gallagher spoke to the media today following his team's return to practice. Let's remember that the Habs' number 11 contracted COVID-19 a little before his team's break.
He took the time to answer questions from reporters about his teammates who are or were suffering from the virus.
"I know Lehks (Lehkonen) had the same symptoms as me and the first few days were difficult for him. I saw Benny (Chiarot) and Wides (Wideman) this morning and they feel fine, so it's different for each individual."
Gallagher reminisced about the days when players had a cold. Times have changed dramatically, he said.
"It's a different world. Before, when we had the flu, we played. We'd get to the rink, try to get away from everyone else, get a separate bottle of water and try not to spread the virus, but we were there to play hockey."
When reporters asked him if he was comfortable crossing the border to Tampa Bay, he didn't hesitate. He has no problem with it. He just wants to play hockey.
"There are people above me who make those decisions. My job is to go play hockey and I'm excited to get back in the lineup so I can do my job."
Gally acted as a true leader by sharing a dose of positivity. He's not afraid of anything and is willing to do anything to come back and compete.
