Samuel Montembeault arrives in Montreal via waivers, which indicates that Carey Price will not be able to start the 2021-22 regular schedule. We know that Price stopped his on-ice sessions a few days ago because his knee was swollen... To me, this is a VERY good indicator.

The native of Bécancour will wear the Montreal Canadiens jersey, he was drafted by the Florida Panthers before going to the AHL. Now 24 years old, the former Panthers' goalie shows a 8-4-1 record, maintained a 2.86 goals-against average and a .898 save percentage with the Syracuse Crunch in 2021.

Montembeault has experienced 25 games of the National Hockey League, all with the Florida Panthers. At the big league level, he has a 3.20 GAA and a .892 save percentage. I remind you that he was a 3rd round selection of the Panthers in the 2015 Entry Draft.

It sounds like Marc Bergevin and Dominique Ducharme weren't comfortable or convinced with Michael McNiven and Cayden Primeau's holdout so far. In Primeau's case, it's been clear from the start, they want him to keep at least 100 games in the minors before allowing him to make the jump.
