When was the last time we saw a trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Boston Bruins?

On February 21, 2001, the CH acquired Quebec defenseman Patrick Traverse des Bruins in return for defenseman Eric Weinrich. It hasn't happened in about 21 years. It's been a long time.

However, Jimmy Murphy, a journalist who covers for the Bruins, believes that the CH and the Bruins could help each other.

With the arrival of the new H&C leadership, changes are expected, as Kent Hughes mentioned on Wednesday. One of his changes could include Ben Chiarot.

Recall that the defenseman has been involved in all kinds of transaction rumors in recent weeks.

The Bruins are currently looking for defensive help on the left side, so Murphy sees a potential association coming to fruition. Considering the incredibly high demands of the Coyotes for Chychrun, Don Sweeney could turn to a more accessible solution, the Habs' number 8.

Moreover, Chiarot's profile would be exactly what the Massachusetts organization would need, according to Murphy.

The upside for the Habs? Considering the potential inter-division transaction, the Bruins might be more inclined to pay the high price for taking a gallon to the blue line.

The Bruins have four picks in the first three rounds of the 2022 Entry Draft, including their first-round pick.
