The Montreal Canadiens are back in action as the 2022 draft approaches, and we love it.
Hours after the trade of Shea Weber to the Vegas Golden Knights for winger Evgenii Dadonov, more and more interesting information is circulating regarding Kent Hughes' upcoming moves.
In the last few hours, it was the turn of the renowned Darren Dreger (TSN) to report some intriguing developments.
"Dreger, on Insider Trading, says the Canadiens are working hard to try to move up several spots in the draft, at different spots. They have 14 picks. They're not going to (and can't) sign 14 drafted players. Expect them to announce trades, in the draft, and they are already working on it. Dreger also reveals a crazy thought, which is circulating more and more around the NHL, what if Kent Hughes was able to land the 2nd overall pick from NJ? (He is available, after all)"
"Remember, the draft is in Montreal, he's going to want to hit it big and make a show, despite also having the 1st overall pick." - NHL Watcher
According to TSN's Dreger, the Montreal Canadiens are really going to try to make trades, in order to move up several draft spots. (in the 2022 draft)
They are already working on a trade to do just that!
If we had to predict, we would say that Hughes is trying to move up to get a second top-15 pick.
We like it anyway, it's moving! We want to see Gary Bettman take the podium, in the middle of the Bell Centre, to announce trades involving the CH.
Also, we remember this "crazy thought" that is starting to be talked about in the NHL (and if Kent Hughes manages to draft 1st and 2nd overall)
There is some action and discussion behind the scenes anyway!
How would you like to see Kent Hughes use his 14 draft picks to move up several spots?
According to Dreger, you can expect it to happen.
More information to follow!
