We told you about it in the last few hours, but following the trade between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Nashville Preds involving defenseman Ryan McDonagh, many Montreal Canadiens fans and observers started to be concerned about a possible future trade of Jeff Petry.

Remember that GM Julien BriseBois traded veteran defenseman Ryan McDonagh to Nashville for defenseman Philippe Myers and 23-year-old forward Grant Mismash (with the intention of buying out Myers' contract, according to some)

As for Mismash, no one expects to see him play with the Lightning ever.

So this is a deal that some say just hurt Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens, because BriseBois basically "gave away" McDonagh. (a defenseman very similar to Petry)

Petry: 34 years old, 3 years at $6.25 million

McDonagh: 33 years old, 4 years at $6.7 million

We can understand the concern of some, but fortunately, the very reputable Darren Dreger (TSN) had some good news today, for Montreal Canadiens fans, in this matter.

Darren Dreger on @TSN690: "I don't think it's going to be hard to find takers for Jeff Petry (at his fair value)." Dreger added that Habs fans have seen the good, the bad and the ugly Jeff Petry, but he's still highly regarded around the league.

You have to admit, this is very reassuring and encouraging to hear! So despite the McDonagh trade, we can still expect a good return, under the circumstances, for Jeff Petry.

Remember that Kent Hughes has openly mentioned that he is listening to offers and that he is open to trading Petry, but at the right price. Do you think he will be traded this week?

More details will follow!
