The infamous David Ayres, the Toronto Maple Leafs (Marlies) zamboni driver who came to the aid of the Carolina Hurricanes on February 22, 2020, has reportedly found a new job.
According to Sara Civian of The Athletic, David Ayres will be named head coach of the Vermilion County Bobcats in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL).
Ayres does not appear to have any experience at the coaching level in the pros. The Vermilion County Bobcats, in their first year in the SPHL, are in last place. So it's possible that this is a publicity stunt, in an effort to attract some curious onlookers to the arena.
