Names like Anthony Richard and Alex Belzile come to mind. Both players found new teams during the summer. However, as of now, neither of them has played a game this season in the NHL, hinting that their gamble might not have paid off. This gamble might soon turn into regret for them.
Such regret already haunts another player who left the organization in the past, Laurent Dauphin. Dauphin departed from the Rocket in the summer of 2022, aiming to secure a spot in the Arizona Coyotes' NHL lineup. Unfortunately, this didn't quite pan out as hoped, with the Quebec native only playing 21 games for the main team and scoring just a single goal.
Now with Ambri-Piotta in the top Swiss league, Dauphin candidly expressed his remorse for not accepting the offer extended by the Canadiens in 2022, especially considering it was the same as Arizona's offer.
Nevertheless, Dauphin is currently relishing his time in Europe alongside his family. He's off to a stellar start to the season, racking up 12 points (three goals and nine assists) in just twelve games.
With such impressive performances, there's hope that Dauphin might make a strong comeback to North America next season.
