Jesperi Kotkaniemi has been heavily criticized since he signed a monster one-year, $6.1 million contract with the Carolina Hurricanes. We all thought that "KK" wasn't worth that much...

On the other hand, since Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov are out, he takes up more space, his coach gives him more quality minutes, and then the Finn produces.

He's in the second center seat, so he's been able to step up, picking up five points in his last three games. He also has seven goals so far this season, which would put him in first place among CH scorers with Josh Anderson. But would he really have seven goals with the Habs?

That said, most likely because of his recent performances and Joel Armia's crappy performances, Grant McCagg suggested that Marc Bergevin should have matched the Canes' offer. He also suggests that "Berg" should not have extended Armia's deal.

He believes that the Habs would be better off with "KK" and Poelhing on the center line, then without Armia on the roster.

"They should have matched the offer and let Armia walk. KK, Poehling and a 2nd round pick or Dvorak, Armia, a first and a third for about the same sure thing? That was a no-brainer for me." - McCagg

A no-brainer? McCagg was probably the only one who believed that when Kotkaniemi left and Christian Dvorak came in. Are we getting ahead of ourselves, Mr. McCagg?
