In the latest episode of La Poche Bleue, Guillaume Latendresse did not mince his words towards the CH general manager. The former number 84 of the Tricolore even went so far as to wish Bergevin would leave immediately if he is to do so at the end of the season.
"We are at a crossroads. At the beginning of the season, I didn't think it was important to extend the general manager's contract and lay the foundation, but now the team is there. There will be transactions to make. If Marc Bergevin is going to leave at the end of the season, I prefer that the new GM makes the important decisions. We have to build. If the guy leaves in six months, let him leave right away," he said in the last episode of his podcast with Maxim Lapierre.
As for Lapierre, he criticized Bergevin's poor salary management. According to him, the money was poorly invested and badly distributed in Dominique Ducharme's lineup.
"When you look at the Canadiens' salaries, there is a problem in the way the team invested its money. We gave everything to the wingers, we have to agree on that and often, there are wingers who fight for the same style of play and the same place in the lineup. There is a lack of money in the center. There's a huge lack of it."
In short, the more the losses accumulate, the more the grumbling is felt by fans and analysts. Is Marc Bergevin still the right man for the job? If not, who would be the best candidate to take over as general manager of the Tricolore?
