Montreal Canadiens prospect Arber Xhekaj has been suspended indefinitely by the OHL for an act he committed following a fight a few days earlier.
After reducing his opponent to oblivion, Xhekaj proceeded to celebrate in a way that the OHL found rather exaggerated.
Here is the fight and the gesture in question:
The suspension is legitimate, as it is a considerably disgraceful gesture. It's a bit humiliating, even.
However, journalist Marc-André Perreault also pointed the finger at the OHL, as it has its share of responsibility in this. Perreault did not defend Xhekaj's action, however. According to him, it's terrible to let young players fight.
I don't disagree with him. I would have banned fighting in the NHL a long time ago, but in the CHL, it should have happened long before that.
