At the end of October, with his usual bluntness, Darryl Sutter explained why Jonathan Huberdeau had left the Flames' bench in a hurry during a game. His answer was quite blunt and direct:

"I think he had to go to the bathroom to relieve himself." - Darryl Sutter

In a recent article with Mathieu Boulay of the Journal de Montréal, the Quebec forward returned to the subject and explained his version of events...

"It's Darryl Sutter. There's not much to say about that."

"That's not true. I didn't go to the bathroom. He can say what he wants, but I don't care about that." - Jonathan Huberdeau

Would there already be friction between the coach and the Quebecer? This could be the case. Especially when we know how Sutter managed the return of Huberdeau last week by placing him on the third line:

"We put him everywhere else, but it didn't work out" - Darryl Sutter

However, the main man Huberdeau is not worried and likes his new linemates (Mikael Backlund and Trevor Lewis).

"I'm not worried. I like it playing with Backlund. He's a smart guy who is always in a good spot on the ice. Lewis is a hard-working player."

"Right now, I'm keeping it simple and doing the best I can. I just want to win." - Jonathan Huberdeau

A very good message! This is absolutely the attitude to have under the circumstances.

The one who finished second in NHL scoring last season will definitely not have a straight pass with his new coach. It is to be hoped, for the Flames fans, that the latter will not take away the taste of the new star of the club to play in Alberta!
