We were telling you about this over the weekend on the popular 32 Thoughts podcast with Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek, there was a really interesting interview with player agent Gerry Johannson.

Johannson is Carey Price's agent, among others, and he was rightly asked about Price's future.

Gerry Johannson is also the agent of Ryan Getzlaf, the Anaheim Ducks' big center and he was (very interestingly) asked about the rumors that sent Getzlaf to the Montreal Canadiens last summer.

Is it true that the Habs made a serious attempt to lure Ryan Getzlaf to Montreal last summer?

See the agent's answer:

"Yes, I seriously talked to Marc. You know, there was also Vegas, a number of teams actually, like Dallas, they respectfully checked into him, to see if Ryan would want to join their team, what he thinks, that kind of thing. It was close (with Montreal), but not close enough to make an offer. It wasn't close enough for that to happen." - Gerry Johannson

So we understand that Marc Bergevin really did try to acquire Ryan Getzlaf, and that he made some serious inquiries. Montreal was probably the most interested organization.

If the veteran center had agreed to leave California, he probably would have worn the Blue-White-Red uniform this season.

Getzlaf, 36, has 37 points in 56 games this season. He has 1,019 career points. (in 1157 games)

Would you have liked it to work? He could have been a great mentor for Nick Suzuki.
