Among those who will become uncompensated free agents is former Canadiens forward Max Domi. Acquired from the Columbus Blue Jackets at the trade deadline, he didn't break anything with the Hurricanes, collecting only seven points, including only two goals in 19 games, but he didn't do so bad in the playoffs with six points in 14 games.
Despite this rather ordinary production on his part, my colleague Christian Matte of Marqueur.com is reporting that an Eastern Association team is reportedly highly interested in Domi's services.
Indeed, the Pittsburgh Penguins are reportedly interested in the fiery forward and with Evgeni Malkin likely to jump ship this summer, Domi could prove to be an excellent option for the Penguins and he wouldn't be asking for the moon for his next contract.
He was being paid $5.3 million this season, but it is very possible that he will take a pay cut to boost his value and eventually sign a much more lucrative contract.
Think about it, a Max Domi reunited with Sidney Crosby could certainly motivate him and we have to remember that the former Canadiens' player is only 27 years old. Moreover, not so long ago, he had 72 points in his first season in Montreal. This means that he certainly still has good seasons ahead of him.
