Following the announcement of the signing of his contract with the CH, the new head coach of the Montreal Canadiens, Martin St-Louis, was questioned on a number of subjects, including the reasons for the long delay before the signing and official announcement of his contract extension.
He mentioned that the negotiations were very quick, and that the long delay was really not because of a disagreement on the salary or the length of the contract.
St-Louis explained that it took longer than expected, simply because he was busy with his family.
He was on vacation, he was taking care of his family and on top of that, Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes were very busy preparing for the 2022 NHL draft. They were in Finland, so we guess that complicated things.
In the end, it's settled and we're happy about it!
