With the 2022-23 National Hockey League season fast approaching, many of us are anxious to see what the Montreal Canadiens' lineup (and lineups) will look like in the first game of the new campaign.
In the last few hours, it was the turn of popular host Jean-Charles Lajoie to present his prediction of the lineup for October 12. (date of the CH's season opener)
"I have a lot of puzzle pieces on offense and I like to make trios that, for me, swing. I wasn't able to put any together. [Yesterday, I finally found some interesting combinations. I modestly present my four potential trios for the Habs for the opening game."
- JiC
See the result:
Caufield - Suzuki - Dadonov
Hoffman - Monahan - Dach
Drouin - Dvorak - Anderson
Slafkovsky - Evans - Gallagher
Extras: Pezzetta and Pitlick
In Laval: Ylonen
Injured: Byron
His prediction does have one surprising feature: Juraj Slafkovsky, the very first overall pick in the 2022 NHL draft, is not alongside Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield, but rather, on the fourth line.
Here are some humble observations:
- We would put Anderson (or Slafkovsky) with Suzuki and Caufield, on the first trio, instead of Dadonov.
- We believe that Dach should definitely be at center, not wing.
- Sean Monahan, however, could become a winger.
What about you? Do you like JiC's trios?
