Jeff Gorton, who is playing interim general manager while waiting to hire the one who will speak in French in front of the media, and the Montreal Canadiens have just claimed Kale Clague off waivers, which proves my colleague Christian Matte right.
On Friday afternoon (2:00 p.m.), the Los Angeles Kings put the 23-year-old defenseman up for grabs. This 2nd round pick in 2016 has a lot of highs, posting five assists in 11 games this year with the Kings. For his career, he has 11 assists in 33 duels.
This year, he also donned the Ontario Reign jersey with whom he had four assists in five games.
That being said, the Montreal Canadiens need a young defenseman with the potential to run the massive offense. Clague is just the candidate the Habs need, as he moves his feet and the puck quickly.
In short, the left-hander will become an important offensive asset for the Montreal Canadiens, who has yet to reach his full potential. On top of that, this could be an indicator of Gorton's intentions for the future of Ben Chiarot and Brett Kulak.
