Jesperi Kotkaniemi is officially a member of the Hurricanes
PUBLICATION

All bets are off. Marc Bergevin announced his decision about Jesperi Kotkaniemi... he's taking the compensation "in return" (a first round pick and a third round pick). Kotkaniemi is leaving to join Sebastian Aho in Carolina, a very logical decision from Marc Bergevin, when he didn't want to add such an astronomical salary to his roster.
Just like that, TVA undoubtedly pressed "publish", without meaning to, which made this headline and article appear on Twitter on the lunch hour. A tweet that was very quickly deleted... Let's hope no one was fired as a result of this unintended publication.
Since the beginning of his career, Kotkaniemi has been inconsistent, posting 62 points, including 22 goals, in 171 games. Perhaps he was thrown in too quickly from the start, when the Habs were in dire need of a center to fill that line. He certainly has potential, but it won't be with the Blue-White-Red that he will develop it.
In conclusion, remember that he was disappointed with the way he was treated during the last playoffs, so his departure was already in the works for a few weeks. And another thing, Marc Bergevin is still working on a deal, most likely including Christian Dvorak. To be continued...
