Forward Joel Farabee, who finished the season as the Philadelphia Flyers' leading goal scorer with a total of 20 goals last season, has signed a six-year deal with the club. His average annual salary will be $5 million, which could quickly become a major coup for Chuck Fletcher. Some might even accuse the GM of a daylight robbery, proving that it's not only Marc Bergevin who commits them ;)
Hey, Farabee is only 20 years old, then he was selected in the first round (14th) in the 2018 auction, the same as Jesperi Kotkaniemi. The 21-year-old Syracuse native has just two seasons behind his tie, but is already establishing himself as a key player for the Philadelphia Flyers. Instead of signing a bridge contract, he was quickly given a long-term deal, which shows how much they believe in him.
Just like that, Farabee has one more year left on his current entry-level contract that pays him up to $1.425 million, including any performance bonuses achieved. The Flyers are therefore guaranteed to keep his services for the next seven years. Imagine if he becomes a regular 30 or 35 goal scorer and 70 point scorer in the NHL.
