At a press conference earlier today, a few days before the famous 2022 NHL draft, Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes answered questions from reporters, mostly about the draft, but also about other issues.

Jeff Petry was mentioned and Hughes had some interesting information to share about the real reasons behind Petry's trade request:

"Hughes said that the fact that Petry wants to be traded is not about Montreal, but rather vaccination issues and family issues, they are expecting a 4th boy.

For example, could they bring their mother-in-law if she is not vaccinated? Hard for a mom to take care of 4 kids while he is on the road." - NHL Watcher

That better explains why Petry wanted (wants?) to be traded to the US.

Petry, 34, has 27 points in 68 games this season with the CH, and an impressive 42 points in 55 games last season. He earns 6.25 million per season until 2025.

Do you think he will be traded this week? This will definitely be a case to watch very closely.
