We told you earlier this morning, according to the information of the reputable Elliotte Friedman (Sportsnet), negotiations are intensifying regarding a possible trade involving star forward Kevin Fiala.
There could actually be an announcement any minute now:
Friedman didn't have more details on the teams involved in these intense discussions, but the excellent David Pagnotta (The Fourth Period) has some news.
"According to @TFP, the #CH would be on the list of teams interested in acquiring Kevin Fiala from the Wild! #Habs #Canadians" - Marc-Olivier Beaudoin
Pagnotta mentions this:
"The Minnesota Wild have been engaged in trade talks involving winger Kevin Fiala for some time and those discussions appear to be heating up.
According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, "things are heating up" with regard to Fiala and a trade is reportedly on the horizon.
[...]
Several teams have expressed interest in Fiala, including the Los Angeles Kings, Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators, Philadelphia Flyers, Edmonton Oilers and New Jersey Devils, among others.
We don't know what kind of package the Wild is asking for, but any trade would have to include a first-round pick or an asset of equivalent value." - David Pagnotta
It's no longer a secret to those who follow the file closely, star forward Kevin Fiala will most likely be traded, this summer, by the Minnesota Wild and according to The Fourth Period, Kent Hughes is on the case!
We love it.
Fiala, 25 years old, has 85 points and 33 goals this season, he had 40 points in 49 games last season and 54 points in 64 games the season before (Wild's top).
We're talking about a star forward here, and it's certainly brilliant to try to take advantage of the Wild's (financial) woes to add an electrifying player.
In addition to Fiala, let's remember that other negotiations are currently underway and it involves forward Pierre-Luc Dubois:
