Obviously, most Canadiens fans will be watching to see if any players will be leaving the team in the next few hours. Kent Hughes may have other plans for the day.
According to what reporter Marc-Antoine Godin of The Athletic reports, one of the Habs' top defensive prospects, Jordan Harris, is reportedly close to a deal with the team. Once Harris' college team is eliminated, the Habs and the young defenseman will announce the signing of his first professional contract, securing his rights for the future.
This will be a great acquisition, especially since there were recent rumors that the CH would lose Harris "for nothing", but the arrival of Kent Hughes changed everything.
Jordan Harris, a 2018 3rd round pick, could become an unrestricted free agent and work out a deal with the NHL team of his choice if he doesn't sign a contract with the Habs by August 15.
Everything indicates that Kent Hughes would have succeeded in convincing her to stay with the organization for a few years.
The left-handed defenseman collected 20 points in 38 games with Northeastern University this year and is considered the Canadiens' third best prospect according to Stéphane Leroux of RDS.
A solid addition to the Tricolore organization!
A big thanks to Marco Normandin, of Habsolumentfan.com, for the info.
