This is the sad news of the day in the hockey world. Although Kris Letang and the Pittsburgh Penguins are optimistic about the future, we learned yesterday that the Quebec defenseman suffered a stroke, and this kind of news is always disturbing.

Our thoughts are with Letang and his loved ones.

When asked by reporters about this sad story, Letang agreed to explain how it happened to him, and this is important to know.

Why is this important to know? Mostly because it's extremely important to recognize the signs of stroke early.

See Letang's response here:

"Kris Letang said he had a migraine on Monday. He called Chris Stewart. The decision was made to take him to the hospital, where it was discovered he had a stroke."

Just that. So it's important to be vigilant and know your body well. Finally, see the most important information:

"Glad to hear there are no lasting effects at this time for Kris Letang. Hard news to swallow. I wish the best for Kris and his family." - Josh Yohe

No lasting effects at this time, that's really the important part.
