"Since the age of 15, Letang has dealt with Quartexx Management, Kent Hughes's former employer. The two men have known each other for about 20 years. He took the opportunity to make his first comments about the Canadiens' hiring of Hughes.
My first reaction is that I am extremely proud, I am happy for Kent. [...] I have a relationship of almost 20 years with him. He became very close. As an agent, it's not just about negotiating contracts and dealing with the hockey part. When you develop such relationships, these people know everything about your life, you trust them on everything. This is an extension of your family," he admitted, adding that he had passed on his congratulations to the newcomer to the Habs.
"He is a man who will take the time to listen to you and gather all the information you have to give him. Everyone is going through different things and he's going to try to put himself in your shoes by giving you the best possible advice. And if he can't, he'll always make the best decision for you or try to see someone else to get the right result," he said by implicitly referring to the health issues he had discussed with Hughes in previous seasons.
So we see that Letang greatly appreciates the new General Manager of the Habs. Will this strong bound between the two men lead Letang to sign in Montreal this summer? Remember that he will become a free agent player without restriction under the terms of this season.
