Earlier today, as part of morning practice in New York, the Montreal Canadiens revealed their official lineup (no changes there), but we were still waiting for news on goalie Jake Allen.
We now have it.
"Cayden Primeau will be the backup goalie tonight."
- Renaud Lavoie, TVA Sports So that means Allen will be in the stands again and he's not ready. Asked about the subject in a media scrum, head coach Martin St-Louis had this to say:
"Martin St. Louis could not say whether Jake Allen will be ready (or not) for Sunday's (tomorrow's) game against the Rangers. Allen has been working with goaltending coach Eric Raymond for a long time after practice. He will not dress tonight, Cayden Primeau is the backup."
- Arpon Basu
Gives a good idea of the current situation. File to follow.
Primeau, 23, has a 4-6-3 record this season in the AHL, a 3.65 GAA and an .890 SV%. If Allen can't play tomorrow, it might be Primeau.
