He's certainly no Connor McDavid, but his attitude is inspiring and should certainly inspire his teammates to step on the gas. Simply put, since his recall, he has been the Habs' best player on the ice. Moreover, his post-game speech yesterday was close to perfection.
"I'm definitely more ready today, so maybe it was a good thing that I played all this time in the AHL, but now I hope to be here to stay. All my baggage and physical strength, I think I'm much better today. I think getting to the net and working in the prime spots makes a big difference in our success," said Dauphin.
Jonathan Drouin also praised the merits of his great friend:
"I've known Laurent since we were 8 years old. I wish there was more of an atmosphere for his goal, but I'm really happy for him. I play with two guys who want to show their potential to the Canadiens and they work so hard. [...] The idea is to be comfortable in everything you do, it goes faster in the National Hockey League, there is less time and less space, but I think he's doing a great job."
By the way, Dominique Ducharme's speech seems to indicate that Dauphin could stay even when the injuries return:
"This kind of work may force us to make changes when the injured come back. It's the work of those who want to stay on the roster that forces us to make decisions."
Me, I see a nice spike in some players, don't you think? In short, if Dauphin keeps this ethic, he will be up there for a long time.
