On this subject, we have just learned a good one.
According to the renowned journalist Murat Ates, who covers the Winnipeg Jets, Dubois really wants to play for the Montreal Canadiens.
Ates, who has excellent contacts within the Jets organization, just said this:
Still, this is big. The Habs want Dubois, but also, Dubois wants to join the Habs.
Remember, he will be free as a bird in two years and can sign with the team of his choice. This is great news for those who want to see him play for the Tricolore one day.
There are now three possible options for Kent Hughes, if he hopes to eventually add Pierre-Luc Dubois to his roster:
1- Dubois stays two years in Winnipeg and signs with the CH in 2024.
2- Dubois is traded to the CH this summer and signs a long term contract here
3- Dubois is traded elsewhere (to the Rangers, for example) and signs with Montreal in two years.
Really interesting! Nothing is done, of course, but knowing that Dubois openly says he would like to play for the Montreal Canadiens, this is major.
Would you like Kent Hughes to try to acquire him immediately, or would you rather he try to sign him in 2024?
Dubois, a 24-year-old native of Ste-Agathe-des-Monts, has 60 points (28 goals) in 81 games this season with the Jets. He was drafted third overall in 2016 by the Columbus Blue Jackets and was traded from the Jackets to the Jets in January 2021 for Patrik Laine and Jack Roslovic.
More details to follow!
