We all agree that he has made some very good moves, especially on the trade market. He's a good negotiator, he's won more trades than he's lost, and that's something that's sought after in the NHL.
Currently, Bergevin is working for the Los Angeles Kings as a special advisor to GM Rob Blake. Clearly, he has his sights set higher and would like to be the top dog for an organization again.
And like reported Félix Forget, it may well be sooner rather than later.
In his recent blog, one of the NHL's most reputable informants, Frank Seravalli, made some very interesting statements.
This one in particular:
Seravalli adds in his podcast that it could very well happen this summer, that he wouldn't be surprised if it was confirmed and that Bergevin could possibly get some good news soon. Stay tuned!
Marc Bergevin is a very well placed executive in the NHL, he's respected, and it's often been said that if it ended for him with the CH (which it eventually did), that he'd have absolutely no trouble finding a new job as GM.
The Kings' neighbours, the San Jose Sharks, are currently looking for a new GM and if Bergevin wants a new opportunity, this could be his chance. He doesn't have the luxury of waiting and being forgotten.
This will be an interesting case to watch, but it wouldn't be surprising if Marc Bergevin gets some great news soon. (when the Sharks season ends) Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman also named him as a potential candidate for the San Jose job.
Could you see him getting the job?
