In an interview on TVA Sports, general manager Marc Bergevin addressed several hot topics of the season for his team, but it is especially his answer to the last question that has people talking.

Indeed, the one who is currently on the sidelines because of a positive test to Covid-19 was asked by Renaud Lavoie if the opportunity to make a transaction had presented itself on his table and his answer may not please those who would like to see him stay in office for next year...

The Montrealer answered that he had received offers that were far from satisfactory and that he would not want to mortgage the team's future for anything in the world, even if he was not certain to be back next year.

As host Jean-Philippe Bertrand mentioned, there is a lot to read between the lines in this clip, as Bergevin seems to confirm, at least in part, that he will not extend his contract with the organization at the end of the current season.

Bertrand even went so far as to say that the only thing separating Marc Bergevin and Geoff Molson from the divorce is the name of the next candidate for the general manager position and it would be very difficult to contradict him after hearing these words from the main interested party...
