But one of the issues that interests the team's fans the most is without a doubt the future of head coach Martin St-Louis. Based on the statements of the main interested party as well as general manager Kent Hughes, all indications are that St-Louis' return behind the bench next season would be a mere formality.
His wish will be granted.
And as Marco Normandin of Habsolumentfan.com reports, all that would remain is to agree on his salary and the length of the contract. It's about to happen.
But, according to what Pierre Lebrun, reporter for The Athletic, reports, St. Louis' next contract could be different from others.
According to him, a rookie head coach's salary normally ranges from $750,000 to $1.5 million a year. However, since he would not be a rookie coach like the others, Lebrun believes that St. Louis could demand more than $1.5 million per season, which is the approximate salary of Dominique Ducharme, who by the way is still paid by the organization.
It must be said that his status as a former star player could play a role in the balance and that he has done a lot of work since his arrival at the team's helm last February. St. Louis has maintained a 14-19-4 record, but it must be said that there was an ugly nine-game losing streak late in the season.
With all the changes expected to be made to the team over the summer, it's a safe bet that St. Louis will have a much different lineup when training camp opens this September.
