The new management of the Montreal Canadiens is doing a wonderful job in terms of communications and transparency, but there is a certain aspect on which Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton wanted to imitate Marc Bergevin.
They refuse to openly talk about rebuilding.
However, thanks to goaltender Samuel Montembeault, who was once again splendid yesterday by the way, we have just learned that the management has announced to the players that the team is rebuilding.
They don't want to tell the media and the fans, but they have obviously told the players. So it's a done deal.
Check out what Montembeault had to say:
"Last year, the team told us we're headed for a rebuild."
- Samuel Montembeault
So this is the first time we've heard the fact that the team's higher-ups mentioned to the players that they were in a rebuilding process.
So expect a lot of movement between now and the trade deadline.
By the way, no one here is claiming this is a surprise or a big deal, but it's interesting to hear that the players have been told about the rebuild. We like it.
