Rumors have linked him to the Washington Capitals, Toronto Maple Leafs and even his former team, the Montreal Canadiens. However, a new contender has come in and fans are stunned to learn that it is the Boston Bruins.
Jimmy Murphy of Boston Hockey Now believes that the Bruins could use Subban or Massachusetts native Keith Yandle to fill the depth gap on both sides of their blue line. Note that right-handed defenseman Charlie McAvoy (shoulder) will likely be out until December and left-handed defenseman Matt Grzelcyk (shoulder) will likely miss until at least November.
The Bruins are currently $2.2 million over the $82.5 million salary cap, but they will be able to place McAvoy, Grzelcyk and winger Brad Marchand (hip) on the long-term injured list to go under the cap.
Also keep in mind that Subban is expected to sign a very cheap contract. He might even be convinced to sign a low-risk one-year contract worth $750,000, especially considering that camps will begin very soon.
Boston fans, however, think it would be shocking to see Subban in a Bruins uniform considering he was one of the Bruins' biggest rivals when he was on the Canadiens' roster. Remember the times he checked Marchand!
It would definitely be strange to see him in a black Bruins uniform...
