As a reminder, number 76 is finishing the last year of an eight-year contract worth $9 million per season that he signed with the Habs in 2014. He will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
When asked if a deal involving him was possible in the coming weeks, he admitted that all options were possible.
"Everything is possible. I've been playing long enough to know that. I don't pay too much attention to it. I'm happy with the Devils, I know there have been ups and downs for me in New Jersey. I want us to turn the ship around. But I understand the business."
Asked if he was interested in returning to the Habs, he didn't want to get too involved. However, by his answer, we can deduce that he would not refuse such an opportunity.
"It's a 32-team league now. Whether it's Montreal, Jersey or Nashville, you want to play where you feel wanted. Right now, that team is Jersey. They made a deal to acquire my services."
"Montreal will always feel like home to me. I always like to come back there. I've never shown any negative emotions towards Montreal. It's where I started my career and I'm grateful for that."
It would be quite a reunion, if that were to happen. It's not the same management as when he left the Tricolore and the group of players has changed greatly as well. In a transition role, I would have no problem bringing him back to Quebec. On a second power play unit and on a second or third pairing, he definitely could not hurt.
