Since the elimination of the Quebec Remparts in the most recent Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoffs, there have been major doubts about Patrick Roy's future in the Courteau circuit.
Several rumours circulated over the summer, but in the end, Roy is back behind the Remparts' bench this season.
So soon it's over for Roy?
After taking several weeks to think about his status for the current season, it seems the former #33 is already set for next year.
As my colleague David St-Jean reports, on the air on Le Retour des Sportifs, Roy was very transparent about the plan for next year.
"Speaking on the show Le Retour des Sportifs, Patrick Roy said that this will most likely be his last season with the Quebec Remparts."
The answer says it all:
"This might be my last go-round." - Patrick Roy
Roy then explains that the goal is indeed to pass the torch to another person, and that person is already chosen (Simon Gagné).
The plan clearly seems to be for Simon Gagné to take over the team next year. See Patrick's explanations:
Is Roy's plan to make the jump to the NHL next year? Does he want to take a few months off? Remember that he has a good relationship with the general manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Kent Hughes. The two men had an interesting meeting in Brossard last month.
To be continued, but it's interesting to have a better idea of what's next in his case.
Do you think Patrick Roy will be hired by the Tricolore for next season? What role would you give him?
