In an interview this morning with JiC on BPM Sports, Quebec Remparts general manager and head coach Patrick Roy took a shot, without naming him, at Carey Price during the interview.
Speaking of his retirement, Roy mentioned that he decided to retire in 2003, with one year left on his $8.5 million contract, rather than remain on the long-term injured list.
"I'd rather retire, than say, 'I've got a sore leg, pay up!"
When I retired I had one year left on my contract at $8.5M, but for me hockey is a passion and I wasn't going to sit there on the injury list and tell the team, my leg hurts, pay me!
Without having to name names, we can understand that he was clearly targeting the Carey Price and Shea Weber of this world.
One thing is certain, it is very noble of him and all to his credit.
