It's a story that nobody (or almost nobody) is talking about right now, but we have serious reasons to believe that another Montreal Canadiens fan favourite is currently injured.

Check out his playing time in recent games. We are talking about Arber Xhekaj:

10 minutes and 43 seconds is his ice time in last night's game against the Boston Bruins.

That's really not much, especially for a defenseman.

One might think that Xhekaj is the team's seventh defenseman and that Martin St-Louis prefers to use his other backs, but there is probably another reason behind this sudden drop in "WiFi" usage.

Let's remember what the excellent Marc Denis said a few games ago

Xhekaj is certainly hiding an injury. He refuses any invitation to fight in a crazy match and when he threw the gloves against Smith, he kept his left glove on." - Marc Denis

A remark that was made during the game against the Florida Panthers.

Let's really hope it's a false alarm, but if Marc Denis says it, it's certainly noteworthy, especially since Xhekaj's ice time is in freefall (which seems to be another clue).

Is Arber Xhekaj injured? Is it serious enough? Let's just say that with the Cole Caufield story (and the surprise announcement), we're more fearful with this sort of thing.

In any case, it's something to keep an eye on, but let's really hope that tonight is minor in Xhekaj's case. That would be a big loss.
