On Wednesday night, the Vegas Golden Knights announced the signing of forward Phil Kessel to a $1.5 million, one-season contract.
In an interview to comment on the news, Kessel took aim at his former organization, the Arizona Coyotes.
One sentence, which says it all:
"It's going to be fun to finally play for a team that wants to win." - Phil Kessel
You can guess that immediately set the web on fire. Mostly, it says a lot about the mentality in Arizona, and clearly, it didn't seem to sit too well with Kessel.
It will be interesting to see what the veteran will be able to accomplish in Vegas, as he still managed to put up 52 points in 82 games last season despite a very ordinary team around him.
Kessel said he believes he still has the ability to score more. Kessel, 34 years old, will have the opportunity to collect his 1000th career point this season, he currently has 956 career points (including 399 goals).
