It was inevitable yesterday, with the long-awaited return to play of defender Joel Edmundson, the Canadians had to free up a roster spot in the lineup.
This is precisely what Kent Hughes did, by taking the decision to place forward Cédric Paquette on NHL waivers. He was not practicing with his teammates yesterday morning.
The other 31 NHL teams had until 2 p.m. today to acquire him for free.
Finally, Paquette was ignored on waivers. He therefore takes the direction of Laval.
The 28-year-old forward has only two assists in 24 games since the start of the season. He also maintained a -6 rating. He hasn't played in the American Hockey League since 2014.
