He is calling other teams' executives to offer them some veteran forwards. Hughes really needs to fix his surplus of forwards, Evgenii Dadonov will soon have to leave the injured list.
Targets on the market.
Here we just learned that there would be three clear targets for Kent Hughes on the trade market, three teams that would possibly have interest in adding a forward like Mike Hoffman, Joel Armia, Jonathan Drouin, Evgenii Dadonov, or even potentially Christan Dvorak, if the price is right.
The Philadelphia Flyers
We were talking about this earlier this week, but they definitely want to make the playoffs, they want to add forwards, and they need to fill the loss of players like Sean Couturier, who is expected to miss three to four months of action.
Ottawa Senators
Much like the Flyers, they are desperate to make the playoffs this year, and they have lost the services of a very important forward, long-term (Josh Norris' season is likely over).
Their general manager Pierre Dorion has openly mentioned that he wants to move and that he wants to add at least one forward.
Remember that the Sens made serious attempts to acquire Josh Anderson and Christian Dvorak this summer.
The Washington Capitals
Probably one of the most logical targets. Their winger Connor Brown could miss the rest of the season, their winger TJ Oshie is out with a long-term injury, and they have other injuries up front like Tom Wilson.
Obviously, missing the playoffs is not an option for them, considering they have a certain Alex Ovechkin in their lineup.
They have an extreme and urgent need to add established forwards (which explains the addition of Nicolas Aubé-Kubel yesterday), and Washington really seems like an ideal trade partner for Kent Hughes, especially since they have room on their payroll.
They could really use an Evgenii Dadonov, Mike Hoffman or Jonathan Drouin. Kent Hughes could take advantage of the situation.
