With teams like the Arizona Coyotes and (especially) the Vegas Golden Knights suddenly aggressively searching for a new goalie, the trade market is starting to heat up again in the NHL.

Expect to see a few goaltenders change addresses.

This could be the case for Jake Allen:

Another goalie who is in demand (and has a better chance of being traded) is San Jose Sharks goalie James Reimer.

The Sharks have just made him available on the trade market and the asking price is now known (and it is high):

As reported by our colleagues at GoHabsGo.com, San Jose is asking for a second-round pick from teams that would like to acquire Reimer.

There is a lot of backlash from pundits as well as fans, because that is a very high price for a goalie like James Reimer.

In 48 games last season, Reimer amassed 19 wins, 17 losses and 10 overtime losses, he maintained a goals-against-average of 2.90 and a 0.911% save percentage.

"A second round pick for James Reimer is just ridiculous as a request!" - GHG

On the other hand, this is great news for Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes, because Allen has much better value than Reimer.

His value is going up and the goalie market is going up!

Knowing that the Golden Knights (for example) will have to offer a second round pick to acquire Reimer, we can deduce that Allen will cost even more than that (and that a club like Vegas will prefer to pay a bit more to get Jake Allen before a goalie like Reimer).

All of this will obviously depend on the health of Carey Price, but Kent Hughes has the big stick and he could take advantage of the situation.
