Here is what we know:
- The Flames were seriously interested in acquiring Anderson this summer, they made serious offers.
- The Flames want to acquire a goal scoring forward quickly.
- Josh Anderson doesn't really fit in Martin St-Louis' system, according to some experts.
- The general managers of the Flames and Canadiens get along well.
Knowing all this, some observers have put forward trade proposals between Montreal and Calgary involving Josh Anderson.
It seems pretty unanimous that the conversation starts with a first round pick. The Flames have already traded two to Kent Hughes (Tyler Toffoli trade and Sean Monahan trade).
Another name that is coming up a lot is young Quebec forward Jakob Pelletier. The Flames' 26th overall pick in 2019 had 62 points in 66 games last season in the AHL, and 10 points in 11 games this season.
So that would give this:
to Montreal:
- Jakob Pelletier
- First round pick
To Calgary:
- Josh Anderson
Well, this is a base that is circulating a lot on the web, but if you want our opinion, there would possibly be a small modification to make. In particular, the Habs would obviously have to take another salary in return, with only one year left on the contract.
Plus, it would add value on the Habs side, so it would balance out the deal.
Kent Hughes might also have to add a late draft pick or a lower quality prospect.
What do you think?
