As Raphael Simard of Danslescoulisses.com reports, Ribeiro said that Saku Koivu, who was the team's captain for 10 years, was not a very good leader in the locker room. We all remember that the two players were not great friends and almost came to blows during a practice in February 2004, when the team had suffered four consecutive losses.

The former No. 71 also said that Koivu seemed happier after a loss where he picked up points instead of a win where he did not contribute. Ribeiro went on to say that for a captain, that kind of attitude has no place, but for a player who doesn't necessarily have a big role on the team, it's more understandable.
Regarding Koivu, there is a rather revealing statistic in his case. Every time he finished as the Habs' leading scorer, the team did not make the playoffs.
This says a lot about the leadership that the Finnish forward could bring to his team.
On the podcast, Ribeiro also said that he was giving his vote to Nick Suzuki as the future captain of the Habs.
