Tonight's game will not only mark the debut of goalie Samuel Montembeault in a Montreal Canadiens uniform.
It will also be the first time a Quebec goalie will get a start with the Canadiens since Jose Theodore in 2006.
It will also be the first time a Quebec goalie will make an appearance in front of the Montreal cage since Marc Denis in 2009. However, he did not get the start. It has been about 12 years since we have had a Quebec goalie with the Habs, a rather surprising, even sad fact.
Let's remember that Quebec goalies invaded the NHL in the past with the likes of Theodore, Giguère and Brodeur. There were a ton of them, which is not really the case anymore....
We can however rejoice for the young Montembeault who will realize a childhood dream. An individual who has worked hard over the last few years to get to this point.
